Its key applications include helping to prevent recurrent preterm birth in women with a history of spontaneous premature delivery, and for the treatment of habitual or imminent abortion by compensating for hormone deficits and promoting uterine quiescence. It is also utilized in cases of infertility related to corpus luteum insufficiency and for inducing secretory transformation of the endometrium in primary and secondary amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).
