GLUCOPHAGE XR 1G 60`S is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM) containing Metformin Hydrochloride 1000mg (1g) in an extended-release (XR) formulation, supplied in a pack of 60 tablets. Manufactured by Merck Sante S.A.S., this medication is a first-line oral anti-diabetic drug from the biguanide class. It is primarily prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The extended-release formulation allows for convenient once-daily dosing, typically with the evening meal, and often reduces gastrointestinal side effects associated with immediate-release Metformin.
