GLITAMET 50/1000MG is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM), commonly supplied in packs of 30 or 60 tablets. Each tablet contains Vildagliptin 50mg (a DPP-4 inhibitor) and Metformin Hydrochloride 1000mg (a biguanide). This medication is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, particularly when single-agent therapy is insufficient. It works by both enhancing insulin release and sensitivity and reducing hepatic glucose production.
