Povidone-Iodine Antiseptic Solution 100ml (often recognized by the brand name “Betadine”) is a powerful and versatile topical antiseptic designed for external use to prevent and treat skin infections. It contains Povidone-iodine, typically at a 10% w/v concentration, which is a complex of polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone) and elemental iodine. This unique formulation ensures a slow and sustained release of free iodine, which is the active microbicidal agent.
Povidone-iodine is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effective against a wide range of pathogens, including:
