BENADRYL Allergy Relief Capsules 12’s are a fast-acting medication designed to provide effective relief from the symptoms of various allergies. Each capsule contains Acrivastine 8mg, which is a second-generation antihistamine. Unlike older (first-generation) antihistamines, Acrivastine is known for its rapid onset of action (often within 15 minutes) and generally causes less drowsiness, though some individuals may still experience this side effect.
Acrivastine works by blocking the action of histamine, a natural chemical produced by the body during an allergic reaction. By blocking histamine, it helps to alleviate the common symptoms associated with allergies.
BENADRYL Allergy Relief Capsules are indicated for the symptomatic relief of:
- Hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis): Relieves sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, and itchy throat.
- Other allergic conditions: Such as allergies to pets, dust mites, and mold spores.
- Skin reactions: Including urticaria (hives), nettle rash, and itchy skin rashes.
This medication can be taken as needed (up to three times daily) for quick and effective symptom control. It provides relief for up to 8 hours per dose. It is crucial to follow the dosage instructions on the packaging and not exceed the recommended daily dose.
