BEECLAV 457mg/5ml Oral Suspension 70ml is a potent, broad-spectrum antibiotic medication, commonly used in pediatric and adult settings. It is a fixed-dose combination of Amoxicillin 400mg and Clavulanic Acid 57mg per 5ml of reconstituted suspension.
- Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class antibiotic that works by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria.
- Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Many bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can inactivate Amoxicillin. Clavulanic Acid protects Amoxicillin from this degradation, thereby extending its spectrum of activity to include Amoxicillin-resistant bacteria that produce these enzymes.
