Beeclav 1g Tablets contain a powerful combination of two active ingredients: Amoxicillin 875mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg. This medication is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class, enhanced by a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
- Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that works by preventing the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for the bacteria’s survival. This leads to the death of the bacteria.
- Clavulanic Acid is added to overcome a common mechanism of bacterial resistance. Many bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which can inactivate Amoxicillin. Clavulanic Acid binds irreversibly to this enzyme, protecting Amoxicillin from degradation and allowing it to effectively kill a wider range of bacteria, including those that would otherwise be resistant.
Beeclav 1g is primarily prescribed for the treatment of various bacterial infections in adults and children (typically those weighing 40 kg or more), including:
- Respiratory tract infections: e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media (ear infections).
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections: e.g., cellulitis, animal bites.
- Bone and joint infections.
- Dental infections.
It is crucial to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by a doctor, even if symptoms improve, to ensure all bacteria are eliminated and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
