Description
Avas 20mg Tablets (30’s) contain Atorvastatin 20mg, a widely prescribed medication belonging to the group of drugs known as statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors). Atorvastatin works by significantly reducing the production of “bad” cholesterol (Low-Density Lipoprotein – LDL cholesterol) and triglycerides in the liver, while also helping to increase “good” cholesterol (High-Density Lipoprotein – HDL cholesterol). This action helps to prevent the build-up of fatty deposits (plaque) in the arteries, which can lead to narrowing and hardening of the blood vessels (atherosclerosis). Avas 20mg is primarily prescribed to lower high cholesterol levels and to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes, and the need for heart surgery in individuals at risk. It is typically taken once daily, with or without food.
