It works by generating reactive oxygen species within infected red blood cells, which swiftly kill the malaria parasites, including strains resistant to other antimalarial medications. Its rapid action makes it the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommended first-line treatment for severe malaria over quinine.
This injectable formulation is crucial for managing life-threatening cases of severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria in both adults and children, where prompt and effective intervention is critical to prevent complications and mortality.
