Amlodenk 5mg Tablets contain Amlodipine, a potent and long-acting medication belonging to the class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers (dihydropyridines). Each tablet provides 5mg of Amlodipine, primarily used for the effective management of high blood pressure (hypertension) and the relief of chest pain (angina pectoris), including stable angina and the rarer vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina. Amlodipine works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which allows blood to flow more easily and reduces the workload on the heart. This action not only lowers elevated blood pressure, significantly reducing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems, but also improves blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle, thereby preventing angina attacks.
