Daktacort Cream is a dual-action topical medication that combines Miconazole Nitrate (2% w/w), a potent antifungal agent, with Hydrocortisone Acetate (1% w/w), a mild corticosteroid. This unique formulation is specifically designed to treat skin conditions where a fungal infection is accompanied by significant inflammation, itching, and redness. Miconazole effectively targets and eliminates the fungi (and some associated bacteria) causing the infection, while hydrocortisone rapidly reduces the uncomfortable inflammatory symptoms, providing quick relief.
Daktacort Cream is commonly used for inflamed fungal skin infections such as Athlete’s Foot and sweat rash (candida intertrigo). It works to clear the infection and soothe the irritated skin simultaneously. The cream should be applied thinly to the affected area twice daily for no more than 7 days, unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional. While generally well-tolerated, users should be aware of potential side effects like mild irritation and avoid prolonged use, especially on sensitive areas, to prevent skin thinning.
