Aziclar Tablets 500mg contain Clarithromycin 500mg, a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic effective against a broad range of bacterial infections. Clarithromycin works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting their protein synthesis and stopping their growth. Aziclar 500mg is commonly prescribed for various bacterial infections including those of the respiratory tract (e.g., pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), and skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., cellulitis, erysipelas). It is also a key component in eradication therapy for Helicobacter pylori in patients with peptic ulcers, often used in combination with acid-suppressing agents.
